How’s Your Biblical Literacy? Deepen Your Knowledge with This New Podcast.

The brand-new Bible Study Magazine Podcast launches today. The theme of the first season is “Biblical Literacy”—how to achieve it and how to promote it.

Many people Faithlife serves have already achieved biblical literacy; they know how to get around in their Bibles. That’s why they value Logos Bible Software, Bible Study Magazine, the Faithlife Study Bible, Lexham Press, and all kinds of other resources Faithlife makes for the Church.

But many people don’t know where to start with their Bibles, and not a few of them have been in church long enough to feel embarrassed about this fact. They may wonder: How can I achieve biblical literacy? How do I know when I’ve arrived? What tools do I need?

You may wonder how you can help them—or if this describes you, what can help increase your biblical literacy.

Enter the first season of the Bible Study Magazine Podcast. In it, I talk to people who know the Bible well and teach it carefully and earnestly. We discuss the basics, but in a way that should stretch and help listeners looking to help others understand those basics. In these inaugural episodes, I talked with:

  • Trevin Wax about the Bible’s one, overarching story
  • Vern Poythress of the ESV committee about Bible translation
  • Michael Kruger about what books belong in the Bible and how we know
  • Wendy Widder about basic Bible study tools
  • Danny Zacharias about more advanced Bible study tools
  • Mike Heiser about the ancient cultural backgrounds of the biblical writers
  • Craig Evans about biblical archaeology
  • Leland Ryken about ways our understanding of English literature can help us understand the Bible
  • Peter Gurry about differences among biblical manuscripts

And more—12 episodes in all.

After each interview, I invited some of my colleagues at Faithlife to get together with  me in the studio to process the insights we’d just been given.

The first 4 episodes of the 12-episode season are out now. Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
